We learned that it is very important that all (or at least a majority of) the participants are invited to join the CoP at approximately the same time. In this way, a critical mass is reached simultaneously and the response should be higher.

When addressing various organizations, a list of contacts should be compiled and a message/invitation distributed on the same day. Besides, it might be very useful to contact the potential participants also individually (via phone) so that they feel personally addressed and wanted in the group.
