The Association for Promoting and Developing Tourism, Maramures, is a regional organization that includes the following 3 counties from the North West of Romania:
- Maramures County
- Satu Mare County
- Salaj County
Maramures is also the name of the association, because it is like a trade mark for promoting the region. It is a professional association that has 60 companies operating within the tourism sector (hotels, motels, rural tourism guests houses, tourism agencies) as members One of the founding member of the Association is ANTREC (National Association of Rural, Ecological and Cultural Tourism ) which has only in Maramures County 200 rural guests houses.
The Maramures Association is responsible for the preservation of Maramures County’s material cultural heritage and environment and for the acquisition and distribution of knowledge about it, working hard to preserve the local art craft.
The Maramures Association assists regional authorities, policy makers, researchers, students and members of the general public in a variety of ways. Its highly qualified staff, experts in specialist fields and changing exhibitions and tourism fairs under its administration are everybody who likes to develop a business in this field and to promote a high standard of good services in tourism.
Therefore the Maramures Association is partner of the competent authority, which issues tourism license, certifications and attestations in tourism. The Association organizes, together with governmental schools, tourism courses for qualification and preparing "experts" for quality tourism. The association has organized yet Info–Tours for journalist from Italy and Germany and tour operators from Germany, Italy, Hungary and Romania.
